Button Lover’s Easy Mitts
These easy to knit mitts are fun for any knitter that can knit, purl, and sew on a button. No buttonholes and no seaming required. What a great way to show off some of those special buttons from your button jar! I chose different varieties of light neutrals for my mitts pictured here, but you can mix and match any colors and types of buttons to create your own unique pair. These make a quick gift too!
This pattern is suitable for a knitter who has learned the basics (knit stitch, purl stitch, cast on and bind off and making a backward loop on the needle). The mitts are knit back and forth on straight needles to make a flat piece that is then folded. Sewing on buttons is also required. The pattern is 2 pages long and has been professionally tech edited and fully test knit to be clear and free of errors.
Sizes: S (M, L) to fit hand circumferences of 7 (8, 9) in /18 (20.5, 23) cm with approximately 1 in/ 2.5 cm of negative ease. Mitts are quite stretchy.

Finished Measurements:
Width before assembly: 7 1/4 (8 1/4, 9 1/4) in/ 18.5 (21, 23.5) cm.
Circumference after assembly: 6 1/4 (7 1/4, 8 1/4) in/ 16 (18.5, 21) cm.
Length = 6 3/4 (7 1/4, 7 3/4) in/ 17 (18.5, 19.5) cm.
Gauge:
In pattern stitch unstretched: 24 sts and 30 rows/ 4 in/ 10 cm.
What You Need: 
- 1 3/4 (2, 2 1/2) oz/ 50 (57, 71) g, approximately 105 (130, 157) yds/ 96 (119, 144) m of worsted weight yarn. Sample shown used Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in color “Pumpkin”.
- A pair of straight needles in size required to obtain gauge. I used US #5/ 3.75 mm. You may need a size or two above or below that.
- two stitch markers
- 12 – 16 assorted buttons, 5/8 – 3/4 in/ 16 – 19 mm diameter
- coordinating color sewing thread and a sewing needle.
