Shapely Legs Legwarmers

No reason to hide your shapely legs in the chilly weather. These legwarmers are shaped from ankle to calf to hug without bagginess. Twisted stitch diamonds spark up the ribbed design and make it an engaging knit.

This design is suitable for knitters who are comfortable knitting, purling, working increases, and working in the round on dpns. The twisted stitch pattern is given in both charted and written out forms. The pattern consists of 3 pages, and had been test knit and professionally tech edited.

Sizes: S/M (M/L), to fit ankle circumference of approx. 8 – 9 (9 – 10) in/ 20.5 – 23 (23 – 25) cm, and calf circumference of approx. 12 – 14 (15 – 17) in/ 30.5 – 35.5 (38 – 43) cm. Shown in S/M on a 13 in/ 33 cm calf.

Finished Measurements:
Ankle circumference: 6 1/2 (7 3/4) in/ 16.5 (19.5) cm with no stretch; stretches to 9 3/4 (11 1/2) in/ 25 (29.5) cm.
Calf circumference: 10 (12 1/4) in/ 25.5 (31) cm with no stretch; stretches to 15 (18 1/2) in/ 38 (47) cm.
Length options: 13 (14, 15, 16, 17) in/ 33 (35.5, 38, 40.5, 43) cm. Be sure to allow for width-wise stretch by choosing a finished length slightly longer than your desired length on leg. Shown in 13 in/ 33 cm length.

Gauge: To determine which size needles to use you may work a flat stockinette stitch gauge swatch. The desired gauge would be 19 sts and 31 rows /4 in/ 10cm OVER STOCKINETTE ST worked in rows. This should give you roughly the appropriate stitch pattern gauge of 29 sts and 28 rnds/4 in/ 10 cm worked in the round. The ribbing pattern is very stretchy and very exact gauge is not critical for fit.

What You Need:
✦ Malabrigo Worsted (Merino wool; 210 yds/ 192 m per 3.5 oz/100g skein); approx. 2 skeins. Exact yardage needed depends on length option chosen. For S/M: 280 (300, 325, 350, 370) yds/ 260 (280, 300, 320, 340) m. For M/L: 340 (370, 400, 420, 450) yds/ 315 (340, 360, 390, 410) m.
Largest calf size in 17 in/ 43 cm length will need a few yards more than 2 skeins. Shown in #152 “Tiger Lily”.
✦ one set of dpns in size required to obtain gauge. I used US #6/ 4mm. You may need a size or two above or below that.
