What better place to highlight your love of hand-knit socks than on your socks! The perfect gift for that knitter who always has a pair of socks on her needles.
These socks are worked from the top down on four double point needles. They feature a folded picot hem and lots of happy socks worked in stranded knitting technique with a solid yarn background and a variegated one for the design. They would work just as well with those reversed, or with two solids – Red Socks fans anyone?
Gauge = 30 sts and 40 rows/ 4in (10cm) over stockinette worked in the round
What you need:
* 2 (2, 2) skeins of Kroy Socks 4 ply for the main color (MC) and 1(1, 1) skein of Kroy Socks Stripes for the contrasting color (CC), ***Or*** 266 (293, 316) yds/ 243 (268, 289) meters MC and 95 (105, 113) yds/ 87 (96, 103) meters of CC. Feel free to “edit” your multicolored contrast if you don’t like all of the colors in the skein against your background color.
Note: Yardage is for up to a 10 in/ 25.5 cm foot length. Larger foot lengths may need an extra skein of MC.
* One set of dpn **in size required to obtain gauge**. I used US #1/2.25mm. You may need a size or two above or below that.
* If your stranded knitting pulls in more than your non-stranded, you may need a larger needle size for those sections to keep gauge consistent.
* one stitch marker and one tapestry needle
Pattern consists of 4 pages and includes a chart for the colorwork sections and a photo tutorial for the folded picot hem. It is suitable for an intermediate level knitter who is comfortable working stranded knitting in the round on double point needles. As with all my patterns, it has been test knit and professionally tech edited to be clear and free of errors.
