Castle hat for kids and adults

Castle Hat

This hat was originally designed for a long distance hiker with the trail name “Castle” (you can see her off the trail and wearing her hat in the last photo), but it is a hat that any adult or child who loves castles will be thrilled to wear. A relatively quick knit that takes only a skein of yarn. Great gift idea!

If you choose an alternate yarn for this pattern, choose a worsted weight yarn that will give you the same gauge in the round and that has good stitch definition.

This pattern is suitable for knitters who are comfortable knitting in the round and following a chart. It consists of four pages and includes separate charts for the 2 sizes to make them easy to read. As always, the pattern has been professionally tech edited, and also test knit, to be clear and free of errors.

Sizes: To fit medium child (medium adult) with approximate head circumferences of 20 (22) in/50.5 (56) cm. The finished hat is quite stretchy so will fit a wide range of head sizes.

Finished Measurements: Finished circumference =18 (20) in/ 45.5 (50.5) cm
Finished length to top of crown = 7 1⁄4 (8 1⁄4) in/ 18.5 (21) cm

Gauge: 5 1⁄2, sts and 8 rows per inch over stockinette st in the round.
